VINTAGE on Writers!

I have always wanted a vintage typewriter. The idea of writing spending late nights hunched over, churnning out white sheet after white sheet of stories with a sweating glass of scotch (on the rocks of course) sitting next to me has always been an admittedly strange and yes, cliched dream of mine.

Though, as romantic as that sounds, we do live in the 21st century and producing award winning articles and short stories on a machine that requires constant managing, from the ink to the paper, to the white out is a bit of a daunting idea.

But as I was browsing my favorite site in the world, Etsy, I found a great shop right here in Philadelphia that sells vintage typewriters for pretty reasonable prices. USB Typewriter not only sells beautifully restored typewriters, but it's self-proclaimed "reclusive genius" owner Jack Zylkin has altered them to be USB compatible and can be hooked up to any computer, doesn't matter if you are a PC or a MAC.

If you have already found your prized typewriter and want it to be converted for you, just send it to Jack and he'll hook you up. And if you are in the do-it-yourself mood there is also a DIY Kit for sale that details the steps of turning a your vintage typewriter into a USB ready word processing machine.

Cheers! VINTAGEonPHILLY
