VOP GOES PLACES: La Femme Fete

Credit: Lori Singlar

Last Saturday, I scooted up to NYC and me and my favorite cousins went to La Femme Fete, the fabulous debut event for a couple of awesome vintage designers, Sammy Davis (a PA transplant) of Sammy Davis Vintage and Daphra Holder of Happy Hill Vintage, as well as jewelry from Kim Last and prints from Laura Trimble.

It was a hit. In one room guests browsed displays of the Kim and Laura's beautiful creations. Just a few paces away were the great vintage pieces selected by Sammy and Daphra in their searches up and down the east coast.

As we munched on tasty treats, including the most adorable cupcakes by Cupcake Express and drinks provided by VeeV AcaiSpirit, the vintage girls put on a fashion show of select pieces from the Happy Hill Vintage and Sammy Davis Vintage collections. Daphra and Sammy emceed as the models strutted their stuff through racks of clothes, camera flashes and some great music, like Patti Labelle's "New Attitude" (Sammy joked about giving away a piece from her collection if anyone could identify the tune correctly).

A couple of the major trends the girls highlighted were the blazer as a dress (my personal favorite right now) and sequins, sequins and more sequins (did they ever gone out of style?).

My girls left with some great stuff, but I spent most of the night eying a great black jumper from Sammy's collection that I am still beating myself up for not buying.
